MV Request for Benefits Certification

Program Eligibility & Requirements

Westcliff University is approved by the California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (CSAAVE) and the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC). To be certified for VA educational benefits, you must:

  • Be enrolled in an approved program of study.

  • Be registered only for classes listed in your official Education Plan.

  • Submit a separate certification request for each individual session you plan to use benefits (based on Westcliff’s 8 week academic session calendar).

Note: Failure to meet these requirements by your second session will result in the interruption of your VA benefits. If you have questions, contact the Certifying Officials at military@westcliff.edu or (949) 835-3812.

Processing Timeline & Student Authorization

By submitting this form:

  • Processing Timeline: I understand that per Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) policy, the university has up to 30 days from the start of the term to complete and submit my certification to the VA. For more details on certification guidelines, refer to the VA Compliance Resource: SCO Handbook.

  • Record Retention for Audits: I acknowledge that the DVA mandates Westcliff University to retain a written copy of this certification request in my student profile for official audit and compliance purposes.

  • Request & Authorization: I request that Westcliff University submit the necessary certification forms to the VA on my behalf.

  • Information Sharing: I authorize Westcliff University to disclose relevant educational records to the VA as needed to process, maintain, and audit my claim, as well as report any changes to my enrollment status, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), or withdrawal from school.

Student Responsibilities & Overpayment Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to notify the Certifying Official immediately if I:

  • Make any course schedule changes or withdraw from classes.

  • Choose to opt out of using my VA benefits.

I understand that failure to report changes promptly may result in a VA overpayment, for which I am personally responsible to repay.
